Former Elko Worker Gets Probation In Theft Case

A former Elko County ambulance employee has been given five years probation on her conviction of attempted theft.

Cathy Kolsch was convicted by a jury in February.

Authorities said she stole about $2,000 when she worked as a service biller and emergency medical technician from 1996 through 2004.

She was sentenced Monday by Elko District Judge Andrew Puccinelli, who also imposed a suspended sentence of one year to 32 months.

Prosecutors said the theft was discovered after someone brought in a receipt for a bill, though the payment was not recorded.

An investigation found other transactions that could not be accounted for.
