A new report ranks Nevada second in the nation in the number of women killed by men on a per capita basis.
According to the annual report released Monday by the Violence Police Center, there were 29 women killed by men in Nevada in 2003, the last year statistics are available.
The murder rate in Nevada was 2.64 women per 100,000 population. Nevada's rate ranked second only behind Alaska, which had rate of 2.87 100,000.
The report released by the Washington, D.C. group coincides with Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
Louisiana and Texas tied for third, followed by Tennessee, South Carolina, Arizona, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas, the report said.
