An FBI spokesman in Las Vegas confirms that Airport Police and the FBI are conducting a joint investigation of the cargo thefts at Reno-Tahoe International. No arrests have been made at this point, but indictments could be forthcoming.
The FBI spokesman also says some of the stolen cargo items have been recovered. He would not confirm the name of the company that the accused workers are employed by.
Ironically, all of this comes as the airport reports a 12% surge in cargo business compared to this same time last year. Reno Tahoe International handled 9.4 million pounds of cargo last month, making August one of the busiest months on record.
