Pennsylvania Man Dies After Lake Tahoe Skiing Accident

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (AP) - A Pennsylvania man has died after a
March 19 skiing accident at the Heavenly ski resort on Lake Tahoe's
south shore.

The Washoe County (Nevada) Medical Examiner's Office confirmed
Thursday that 47-year-old Peter Deakins of Berwyn, Pa., was taken
off life support March 25 at a Reno, Nevada, hospital.

An office investigator did not have details of the accident but says Deakins died of blunt-force trauma to the head.

Heavenly spokesman Russ Pecoraro says there were no witnesses to
the accident near the intersection of the Nevada and Stagecoach trails. Deakins was wearing a helmet.

It was at least the third fatal accident involving a skier or snowboarder at Heavenly this season and the fifth such accident at Lake Tahoe this season.
