SPARKS (KOLO) -- A man was shot once in each leg in a robbery at a Sparks computer store.

The Sparks Police Department says a young black male entered M-Tech Computers, in the Smith's shopping plaza, on Baring Blvd. at about 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The man looked around and left. Then, the man returned at about 11:45 a.m. Police say the suspect waited for a customer to leave. SPD says the suspect then went around the counter, grabbed the clerk by the hair, and demanded to know where the safe was located. The clerk repeatedly told the man there was no safe, and offered the suspect his wallet and money from the register, according to SPD.

Authorities say the robber became agitated, and the clerk tried to flee. However, police say the suspect fired three rounds at the victim, striking him once in both legs. .40 caliber casings were recovered from the scene. The suspect fled through the store's back door.

SPD says the man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, the victim's wallet, or both. Authories say the man dropped some money making his escape. Officers attempted to track the suspect with a canine, and believe he may have scaled a wall around a nearby condo complex.

The clerk, identified as James Bryant, was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for surgery. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

The suspect is described as a young black male, 17-20 years of age, thin build, wearing multiple layers of clothing. Bryant told police the outer layer of clothing was a blue hoodie with the hood up; the man was also wearing sunglasses.

Anyone with information is urged at call SPD at 353-2231.
