At approximately 11:30 Thursday morning, Douglas County School District officials ordered George Whittell High School, Zephyr Cove Elementary and Kingsbury Middle School to go on lockdown after a report of someone carrying a gun behind the Zephyr Cove elementary school.
School spokesman Rich Alexander said a teachers aide reported seeing a person dressed in black with gun. Douglas County sheriff deputies, including SWAT team members, searched the area but were unable to find anyone.
School was let out at the normal time and is expected to begin Friday as scheduled.
In total, 670 students attend all three schools.
