CNN ranks Reno 54th out of 100 metro areas in America as the best place to live.

The selections were based on cities that are business friendly, offer a wide array of lifestyle offerings and provide the best blends of business and pleasure.

Each metro hub earned points based on business factors such as tax rates, job growth, and the number of airline flight connections within a 60-mile radius.

Additionally, details such as the number of parks and arts venues within a 15-mile radius, health infrastructure, and average temperatures were factored in.

Out of 296 ranked Census-designated metro areas, Reno was calculated as 54th.

The Reno-Sparks area received praise for minimal traffic, ski resorts, casinos, specific tax incentives for the renewable energy industry, and beautiful scenery.

The Nevada Opera, the local symphony and chamber orchestra also helped earn Northern Nevada recognition for cultural venues.

The top three cities include Bellevue, Wash.; Georgetown, Texas and Buford, Ga.
