"System Shutting Down" - an unpleasant message when it comes out of the blue, and exactly what the latest worm called the rbot - is doing to
computers around the world.
Microsoft regularly informs users of potential problems it discovers in its operating systems and offers "patches" to safeguard or fix them.
On August Ninth the company warned users of three newly found
vulnerabilites that hackers *could* exploit.
The worm infiltrated computers at ABC News, CNN and the New York Times. It paralyzed systems at the Chyrsler Corporation, 13 of its plants were affected - freezing computers for close to an hour.
A worm works on its own, finding holes in one computer that leads it to the next, and the next, leaving chaos behind.
