CARSON CITY (AP) - An undisclosed number of nurses have been
fired at a Carson City hospital for stealing drugs from the facility.
Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center spokesman Jon Tyler says the incident was reported to the Nevada State Board of Nursing as a
routine procedure, and was not reported to police.
The board and the hospital say they would not provide any details - including the number of nurses and type of drugs involved - until the board's next disciplinary hearing in May. The nurses' licenses could be revoked.
In a statement released Friday, the hospital said an investigation found a "small number" of nurses were involved in the theft of narcotics.
Even though "appropriate procedures" were in place, the hospital said additional safety measures have been implemented.
The case has NOT been referred to the Carson City district attorney for review.
