Reno police say they were disgusted to hear a group of teens were stealing American flags off yards and houses in Northwest Reno.
Five teens, between the ages of 15 and 18, were arrested Monday, for stealing 18 flags in neighborhoods off of Mae Anne, Sierra Highlands, and McCarran.
Police say the teenagers told them, they wanted to have flags for the annual parade, and planned on returning them to the homeowners.
They've seen been charged with petty larceny, which is a misdemeanor. Neighbors had hoped they'd be punished more severely. So far, no one has come forward with any reports of flag thefts.
Reno police are keeping the evidence in case anyone wants to come down to the main station and claim their flag.
