About a hundred fire fighters battled the 75-acre brush fire near Virginia City, with the help of two air tankers and a helicopter. In spite of strong winds, they managed to contain the fire after a few hours.
Fire investigators quickly ruled out natural causes, like lightening, and began evaluating evidence at the spot where the fire started.
Investigators say they've ruled out a couple of other possibilities. They haven't found any evidence of a discarded cigarette in the area.They also say it wasn't caused by something dragging off of a vehicle.
