In Dayton, firefighters struggled to keep the flames from neighboring homes. Five outbuildings and several vehicles including a motor home burned along with 11 acres of grass and brush While this fire was being mopped up, the second blaze broke out about 10 miles away.
It burned about 15 acres. The cause of both fires is under investigation. Although firefighters think the Carson City fire started accidentaly from someone taking riffle practice at the nearby range.
Officials warn this may only be the beginning. A wet winter and spring has left a lot of potential fuel in the state's open spaces.
