Prison officials say 33-year-old Robert Lee McConnell will get
to see his mother for two hours tomorrow morning, and they may ease
restrictions that kept McConnell separated from visitors by
McConnell faces a lethal injection for killing his ex-girlfriend's fiance in August 2002. Meeting with reporters, he repeated an earlier statement that he regrets killing Brian Pierce instead of the woman - who he says ruined his life and --quote-- "deserved to die."
The former Reno car salesman, in a 15-minute interview with
reporters at the Nevada State Prison, said he is guilty of murder
and doesn't fear dying - but also says he doesn't deserve to die
for shooting Pierce.
