Legislators wound up approving a modified version of Guinn's car
registration rebate that puts a 75-dollar minimum and a 275-dollar
maximum on rebate checks. People over 65 years old who don't drive
but have state I-D can apply for a 75-dollar rebate.
Democrats in the Assembly had opposed Guinn's original plan,
which set no minimum and offered a 300-dollar maximum per-car
registration fee rebate, calling it inequitable and a boon to some
businesses.
