16 Couples Take Marriage for a Spin

SPARKS, NV - Sixteen couples took the plunge while riding the ferris wheel at Scheels in Sparks on Valentines Day. It's the first ever "Seal the Deal on the Wheel at Scheels" promotion event by K-BULL Radio. Organizers say, at first, they were concerned people wouldn't bite on the idea, but they found out there were a lot of local couples just waiting for the right opportunity to tie the knot.

This prize package provided by station sponsors included his and her wedding rings, a honeymoon in Gardnerville, flowers, pictures and a gift card from Scheels. Radio host Bob Richards was legally ordained to perform the ceremony just one week before it happened. "Ordained on line," he says "then registered through Washoe County Clerk's office to make it official. So all these marriage licenses are the real deal; they really got married."

After the ceremony, each couple was treated to a cupcake, pictures, and a shared first dance. All the while, friends, family, and complete strangers shared in their happiness. Now they're ready for the ride of their lives.
