Deputies say the teens left school just after eight this morning, and went up to the in the Canyons above Goni Road in Carson City.
That's when investigators say a sixteen-year-old teen allegedly shot a fifteen-year-old in the chest. The victim was able to drive himself to the hospital.
Deputy Chief Steve Schuette, of Carson City Sheriff's Department, says they were in the parking lot of the school and there were some words exchanged, and then in escalated from there.
The 16-year old and another teenager, who is being charged as an accessory after the fact were both taken into custody.
The 16-year old is being held as an adult.
