It's going to cost you more to flush the toilet. A proposal endorsed by the City Council would raise sewer rates 25 percent this fall.
After that, rates would rise 4 percent annually for the next nine years. Payments would increase from $19-dollars-40 cents a month to $34-dollars 52 cents by October 2014. City officials say the rate increases are needed to pay for $194 million dollars in repairs.
