Rafting Safety

Video will be available shortly.

Over the memorial day weekend, the Truckee river is expected to be mobbed with rafters.
Reno firefighters say the river is running at 21-hundred cubic feet per second.
It usually is under 1000 cubic feet per second.
Experts say the water temperature is also ONLY 40 degrees...which can be deceiving because temperatures outside may hit 90.
Guides suggest if you're going to go rafting, use a sturdy raft NOT one you buy for a pool.
Also, Nevada law requires everyone in your boat to have a life jacket.
And, children 12 and under must be wearing one at all times on the river.
