Developers want to turn the Wildcreek golf course in Sparks into residential housing.
Wild Creek golf course has been serving the community for the past thirty years.
The Reno Sparks Convention & Visitor's Authority says the property has been losing money for some time.
A recent audit showed it was underperforming, and previous offers to sell the land have failed.
Sparks residents want the owners to put more money into the course.
They say it's one of the only affordable public facilities in the Truckee Meadows.
If the proposal goes through, the property would be re-developed with a nine hole course along with residential homes.
The city of Sparks may also buy D'Andrea and turn it into a public golf course...if Wildcreek is sold.
