A lack of promising leads in the Brianna Denison case is causing Reno Police to resort to some unusual methods.

Officers are patrolling several neighborhoods near the home where Brianna Denison was kidnapped and they're stopping anyone who resembles the suspect in her disappearance.

So far, most people have been cooperative, but some say the police might be going too far.

"I have mixed feelings about it," says Justin Boucher, a UNR junior. "Because stopping someone on appearance is profiling, that's the definition of profiling...so i don't know if they should be doing that or not."

Reno Police are routinely making stops in Northwest Reno, hoping it will lead them to Briana Denison's abductor.

Authorities are pulling people over; taking pictures; and DNA samples if the person is compliant.

Students say these are sacrafices people should be willing to make to help solve the case.

"I guess you have your freedom of speech and all of that," says Travis Pyne, a UNR senior. "But it's eventually a good thing for her so i don't think it's a big deal."

"At this point, I think everyone should be willing," says Kandace Byrns, a UNR sophomore. "They wanna find this guy and if they're willing to help then, that'll get us one step closer to finding him."

Police say they've been going door-to-door in for about a week-and-a-half and questioning hundreds of people.

One lieutenant says it's a matter of gathering key information on a voluntary basis.

"It's completely consensual," says Lieutenant Dave Evans with the Reno Police Department. "Anybody who refuses one can continue on their way. We do not and will not force that issue."
