SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - She was afraid he might harm her.

Susan Powell expressed those fears about her husband, Josh Powell, in emails to friends and co-workers more than a year before
she disappeared in December of 2009.

The Salt Lake Tribune has now published those emails, in which she said her husband had become moody and controlling.

More than a year after his wife disappeared, Josh Powell killed himself and their two young children in a fiery explosion at his home in Washington state.

In one of the emails that have now been published, Susan Powell wrote in July of 2008 that she wanted to see him "in counseling, on meds" -- and wanted to see "no more crazy, outrageous, outlandish beliefs."

In the email, she described stress and depression related to her
crumbling marriage.

Her father said yesterday that he had been aware of the struggles in his daughter's marriage, and that she had sent several emails to friends before her disappearance.

Josh Powell's father, meanwhile, is scheduled to go to trial next week on voyeurism charges and one count of possession of child pornography.
