Health inspectors closed the motel down after dozens of violations, including sewage and animal waste in two of the rooms. Fire investigators say there were also building code violations...which were immediate threats to public safety. A letter was sent to the motel owner today, listing ALL of the violations...which could take some time to repair.
Motel owners have fixed some of the problems...but they say tenants, who left their rooms in squalor, also need to be held accountable.
Residents we talked withsay they were given just nine hours to pack up their belongings and leave, and many didn't have another place to go.
Fire inspectors will check on the inn on the 16th of this month. But, they can enter the business at any time before that to look at the progress owners are making. If the inspection passes, the motel could re-open again.
