Close to 400 people are in the caucus room at the Bellagio resort on the Las Vegas Strip, with more than 100 still waiting to get into the Democratic caucus.
Inside, the crowd is split, with Hillary Clinton backers carrying blue signs.
Supporters of Barack Obama are wearing red T-shirts.
The Bellagio is one of the "at large" caucus sites created by Nevada's Democratic Party to encourage thousands of hotel-casino workers to participate.
Many are members of the powerful Culinary Workers Union, which
endorsed Barack Obama.
