Authorities say a 55-year-old man is in custody after members of an animal cruelty task force found 11 scarred, emaciated pit bulls and other evidence of dog fighting.
Authorities said Jerome Hayden Woods was arrested Wednesday in
South Los Angeles after task force members found the dogs, exercise
equipment, bloody towels and bloodstained fighting pits.
Officer Yvette Smith of the Department of Animal Services said Thursday that all the dogs were seized and are being treated for various injuries.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.
If convicted, Woods could face prison time.
