FDA Sets New Standards for Cough Medicine

By  |

The Food and Drug Administration has issued a public health advisory warning, aimed at your kids.

It's for parents, to avoid giving over-the-counter cough and cold medicines to their young children. It applies to all kids under the age of 2.

Last october, drug companies quit selling multiple versions of medicines targeted to the youngsters.

That same month, FDA scientific advisors voted they shouldn't be used for those under the age of 6 either. The FDA is still working on that final decision.

For now, the administration has said the side effects are serious and potentially life threatening.
