Storey Sheriff To Switch Jobs

By  |

Storey County Sheriff Pat Whitten is
hanging up his badge next week for a new county job.
County commissioners have appointed the 51-year-old Whitten to
the newly created position of administration and budget director.
Whitten has lived in Virginia City for 11 years and was elected
sheriff in 1997. Before that he was a banker for 20 years with Bank
of America.
He will change hats on Tuesday and receive a 70-thousand dollar
annual salary. That's a four-thousand dollar raise from what he
made as sheriff.
The commission will appoint someone to finish Whitten's term as
sheriff, which ends in 2006.
