According to police, it took place around two o'clock outside Nesa's market on Oddie and Montello Sunday. They say a group of Hispanic men had stopped with their overheated car, when a group of African American men approached the group.
Police say the verbal dispute turned physical, and one of the African American men shot at the group.
Forty-one year old Jose Esparza was shot once in the groin, and was taken to Washoe Med where he later died.
Several other shots were fired, and struck the apartment complex at 1400 Oliver Street, barely missing a family with small children inside.
In another shooting yesterday, Police have identified a suspect in this afternoon's shooting at Meadowood Mall. They are looking for a Hispanic man between the ages of 16 and 18. He's five foot six inches with short black hair. The suspect was last wearing a light blue or grey jersey with dark pants. Police believe his first name might be Miguel.
The suspect shot another male in the arm outside the Meadowood Mall food court during a verbal fight. The suspect then fled the scene, and the victim drove to his house were he called police. Officers are pulling surveillance video from the mall. They believe the incident was gang related.
