On Tuesday evening at around 6:06pm, NHP responded to an accident on 395 near Towne Drive.
The preliminary accident details indicated a silver colored Toyota tercel was traveling Northbound, when the driver saw a mattress in the roadway.
The driver, a 37 year old male from Reno, over corrected to the left to advoid the road hazard.
The Toyota Tercel struck the mattress and rotated. The vehicle crossed the center lane and slid backwards Northbound in the Southbound travel lanes.
A Southbound vehicle struck the right rear of the Toyota.
The driver of the Toyota died at the scene.
According to NHP, the driver of the Toyota did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor in the accident.
The accident is still under investigation.
