The Nevada Highway Patrol says snowy pavement and driving speed contributed to the death of a Texas man on Interstate 80 near Winnemucca.
According to the patrol, Gavaldon Nieto, 41, of Freeport, Texas, was a passenger in a pickup truck that overturned Sunday morning on I-80 about 23 miles east of Winnemucca.
Investigators said the driver, Manuel Garcia, 38, of Presidio, Texas, was traveling too fast for conditions when his pickup truck lost traction and overturned in the median.
Both men were wearing seat belts, but Nieto died at the scene of head trauma, the patrol said.
Garcia suffered only minor injuries, the patrol said.
