Snow began falling in western Nevada before dawn
today as the region braced for another winter assault.
Chains or snow tires are required on most mountain passes and
forecasters say conditions will deteriorate rapidly as the wet,
potent system pushes into the region.
Winter storm warnings are posted for all of the Sierra,
including the Lake Tahoe region, as well as half of the Silver
State from Reno to the Utah line.
The National Weather Service says heavy snow is expected to
continue through Monday, with accumulations of up to 8 feet in the
mountains and two feet possible in the valleys.
The latest storm comes a week after a storm dumped 9 feet of
snow at some Lake Tahoe ski resorts and paralyzed Reno with up to 4
feet of snow.
