School District Prepares For School On Monday

Preparations are underway for WCSD schools to reopen as
scheduled on Monday, January 7 following the 2-week winter break.

However, district officials say they will not make a final decision
until early Monday morning pending weather and road conditions. Parents, students, and district employees will be notified via all of the usual methods.

When a delayed start or school closure decision is made, staff and
parents are notified with the district's mass notification system called
Connect-ED.

The announcement is relayed to all local radio and television stations by 6:00 A.M., the message is on the district website (www.washoe.k12.nv.us) and is available by calling 334-8373 after 6:00 A.M.

School district staff will continue to be involved in the emergency and
weather briefings held by Washoe County.

School custodians have ensured that their snow removal equipment is
ready to go and the district's facilities staff have contacted heavy-equipment operators contracted for plowing.

Custodians will be on duty throughout the weekend as conditions
warrant.
