Man Accused Of Mail Theft In Carson City Enters Plea

One of two men charged in the theft of mail from mailboxes in Carson City has entered guilty pleas.

22-year-old Dylan Gregory pleaded guilty Thursday to two gross
misdemeanor counts of opening, reading or publishing a sealed letter or telegram.

Felony charges against him will not be pursued as part of a plea agreement.

Gregory and 23-year-old David Killen were arrested December ninth after a homeowner reported seeing a vehicle drive away after he heard his mailbox opening in the early-morning hours.

The homeowner told investigators that he followed the vehicle and witnessed a passenger rifle through mailboxes each time it would stop in the city's west side.

Detectives say mail found inside the vehicle indicated the men were looking for credit card applications and holiday cards containing money.

A preliminary hearing for Killen set for Thursday was continued. A new date has yet to be set.
