After weeks of making do with machine-made snow, back-to-back snow storms last week have given Sierra ski resorts -- and their skiers -- a holiday treat.
And a string of cold storms is expected to add inches more snow daily the rest of this week without being so potent they keep travelers from heading into the hills.

While many Sierra resorts are still short of the full amount of snow they'd like to see nearly a week after the official start of winter, operators agreed they are pleased with an abrupt turn around that has skiers and snowboarders smiling.
