Snow Brings Out Driving Restrictions In Northern Nevada

Scattered snow is falling across northern Nevada, producing some driving restrictions, particularly in the eastern part of the state.

Chains or snow tires are required along an 84-mile stretch of Interstate 80 from just west of Carlin through Elko to just east of Wells and on U-S 93 for a 67-mile stretch north and south of Wells from the junction with Nevada 229 to 12 miles south of Contact.

Chains or snow tires also are required on Nevada 225 from Elko to the Idaho state line and on Nevada 227 from Elko to Lamoille.

In western Nevada, chains or snow tires are required on the Mount Rose Highway south of Reno over the summit and on Nevada 447 for 24 miles south of Gerlach.
