Men Seek Site For Indoor Skating Arena in Truckee

A real-estate financier and his partner are trying to find a site for a proposed three (m) million dollar Olympic-sized indoor ice skating rink they want to build in Truckee.

John Hugo of Truckee and project partner Steve Weiss of South Lake Tahoe last week asked the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District board whether they could use three acres of district land for the facility.

While the board stopped short of approving a lease, members said they were willing to explore the concept further.

Hugo says he will meet with local architects to discuss town codes and procedures. He also was encouraged to talk to town officials about building regulations and site plans.
