Members of the Sky Tavern Ski Patrol conducted annual training on Mount Rose Saturday.
Participants used ropes and harnesses to successfully repel down from a ski-lift. A patroller estimated he and his colleagues descended from about 50 feet off the ground.
The Ski Patrol says the purpose of the training is to master skills needed to rescue people from lifts in the event of a mechanical breakdown.
Those drilling Saturday repelled without the wooden chair that would typically be used to rescue members of the public.
