Two Of The Five Charged With Starting Malibu Fire To Be Arraigned

Two of the five men who arson investigators believe started last month's devastating Malibu wildfire are scheduled to be arraigned today in Van Nuys Superior Court.

Eighteen-year-old Eric Matthew Ullman and 19-year-old Dean Allen Lavorante of Culver City were charged by the district attorney's office last week with two felony counts each, along with three men, ages 22 to 27.

Each charge carries two to four years of prison time if convicted.

Arraignment for the three other men has been postponed until next Friday.

Arson investigators determined the fire -- which destroyed 53 homes and damaged another 34 -- was sparked by an illegal campfire in a popular party spot in Corral Canyon.
