Students at the University of Nevada are on edge after hearing that someone was sexually assaulted just outside of campus.
Reno police say a white male choked a female student unconscious on Monday morning at about 3 am.
The assailant then took the victim to an unknown location in the 1400 block of North Virginia Street and sexually assaulted her.
University officials sent out two emails informing students about the attack.
The school is urging anyone walking around campus at night to travel in groups and use campus escort whenever possible.
Students are saying news of the attack caught them off guard.
"That's so scary to me," says Samantha Davis, a freshman. "It's just scary stuff like that happens around here."
The suspect is described as a heavy set white male, approximately 30-40 years old with facial hair.
He was last seen wearing an oakland raiders t-shirt.
His vehicle was described as an older model, dark-colored, single cab truck with cloth seats.
Police are urging anyone with any information on this case to call them at 334-2115.
