Safety officials have issued 17 criminal misdemeanor citations to casino-giant Harrah's Entertainment Inc. for problematic remodeling work at two of its Las Vegas Strip hotels.
County spokeswoman Stacey Welling said the county's building division on Friday issued 13 citations for work at Harrah's Las Vegas and four for work at Rio.
Officials said the two hotels in the past several years underwent remodeling projects that either took place without permits or inspections, or resulted in some substandard work.
Harrah's spokeswoman Marybel Batjer told the Las Vegas Review-Journal late Friday that the company had received the citations and was still reviewing them.
The county has said its fire department will also issue citations in connection with the remodeling projects.
Welling did not know when those citations will come out. "I know the departments were working with their respective district attorneys," she said.
