Washoe County Commissioners have authorized 12-point-three (m) million dollars in budget cuts.
And if sales taxes don't pick up, another two (m) million dollars worth of planned spending could be on the line in February.
The immediate cuts include reductions in the sheriff's office that could include house arrest -- reduced library programs and less park maintenance.
In approving the reduction plan, departments will now have six-point-seven (m) million dollars taken from their budgets.
That includes salaries for 28 vacant positions and cuts in travel, training and consulting services.
