A Reno convenience store clerk is learning it's best not to lie to police.
Investigators looking into an armed robbery call morning at the Spirit Food Store on South Wells Avenue instead ended up arresting the clerk on suspicion of embezzlement and filing a false police report.
Police were called to the store yesterday morning and were told a Hispanic man had used a handgun to rob the store.
But a video surveillance showed no one matching the description had entered the store at the time the clerk reported the crime.
After further questioning, the clerk was arrested.
Police say it's not an uncommon ploy for clerks to use to cover up embezzlement.
