The Reno Police Department is seeking applicants for its Police Cadet Program that provides an opportunity to learn police work first-hand and provides up to $1,000.00 in academic reimbursements.
Reno Police cadets work in various units within the Reno Police Department with a 17-hour per week schedule for a semester that accommodates class schedules.
Cadets work in various units of the Reno Police Department in a hands-on learning environment.
To qualify, individuals must at least 18 years of age, and currently enrolled as a student at Truckee Meadows Community College or the University of Nevada, Reno.
Applicants must also possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Nevada driver's license and have no felony or disqualifying misdemeanor criminal convictions.
Successful applicants will be required to pass a criminal background investigation that will include drug screening.

Funding for the cadet program's academic reimbursements is included in the Reno Police Department's budget with funding coming from criminal forfeiture money.
