Reno Fire Department investigators are hoping to identify and locate a potential witness to Sunday's late evening fire at the Senator Hotel at 136 West 2nd Street.
Investigators are hoping to be able to speak with the potential witness, who was photographed by the hotel's security system leaving the area where the fire started on the second floor of the hotel building.
The potential witness is described as a Caucasian male adult, in his 60's or 70's with gray hair balding on top and wearing glasses.
He appears to be about 5-4 to 5-6 in height and about 160-170 pounds, and is seen wearing a dark blue or black jacket, plaid or checkered shirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information concerning the identity or whereabouts of the potential witness, or the fire, is being asked to contact fire investigators at the Reno Fire Department at (775) 334-2300, or the Secret Witness Program at (775) 322-4900.
The fire, reported at about 11:06 p.m. resulted in minimal damage from water and smoke, mostly to ground floor businesses, due to the activation of the Senator Hotel's automatic fire sprinkler system.
About 12 Reno fire personnel responded to the scene with a structure fire engine, ladder truck and rescue truck, and including a battalion chief, safety officer and fire investigator.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
