Becky Haase has been a nurse for the last 25-years....all of those years have been devoted to children. She wouldn't have it any other way. Becky's love of kids, combined with advocacy for them as a nurse she won last year's Northern Nevada Nurse of the Year Award in the patient advocacy category. She was one of thirteen nurses honored last year for work in many categories like innovation, acute care, leadership and life time achievement.
Co-workers, husbands, wives, and patients themselves nominate the nurses for what they feel is outstanding delivery of care.
Keri McGill, the /Northern Nevada Nurse of Achievement, says the awards aren't just for recipients. The program helps raise money for six-one-thousand dollar nursing scholarships distributed throughout Northern Nevada including Elko. The scholarship winners will learn about the dedication of fellow-nurses like Becky and hopefully realize how important their chosen vocation is. And how with the shortage many more like Becky are needed.
