Defensive Driving

Video will be available shortly.

Trooper Jeff Bowers went out with us this morning...for a winter driving lesson.
We touched on how to brake properly...never slam your brakes in the snow but tap them gently.
We covered skidding...meaning steer into your skid and the your tires will eventually turn in the right direction.
Many drivers are getting stuck going up hill.
Trooper Bowers showed us how to keep your wheels from spinning.
Mainly, starting in a lower gear and then accelerating slowly up the hill.
He says winter driving is a skill, and should not be taken lightly.
Number one driving mistake...not giving yourself enough time.
So, heading home tonight, start by leaving early.
Troopers say you'll be surprised how much safer you drive when you're not in a hurry.
