Boreal Reopens With Manmade Snow

There's no snow in the immediate forecast, but at least colder temperatures have allowed Sierra ski resorts to make their own snow.

Boreal Mountain Resort on Donner Summit reopened Wednesday on a
limited basis.

It opened briefly on Nov. 12, but unseasonably warm temperatures forced it to cease operations after only a few days.

But with a cold spell this week that has kept nighttime temperatures well below freezing, all Lake Tahoe-area ski resorts have cranked up their snowmaking equipment, hoping to get a jump start on Mother Nature.
