Garbage Men Call Police Which Leads to 2 Arrests

Waste Management drivers reported suspicious activity to the police which resulted in two arrests on November 15, 2007.

At approximately 5:00am, drivers called into their dispatch that two subjects were acting suspiciously walking around a car lot on South Virginia Street.

They asked dispatch to call 911.

Deputies responded to find two people who appeared to be burglarizing vehicles in the lot.

Both suspects had warrants for other unrelated crimes.

The suspects, Donald Bryant Lawson, 36, and Jason Jergensen, 27, both of Reno, were arrested and brought to the Washoe County Detention Facility.

In June 2007, Waste Management launched the “Waste Watch” program here in Reno and Sparks.

The program is supported by local law enforcement organizations and encourages drivers to report any suspicious activity when they see it on their route.
