Hotel rooms at area casinos are filling up fast.
Usually, this is a slow time a year.
But, with Christmas and New Year's falling on back to back weekends, many are choosing to spend the holidays in Northern Nevada.
The Nugget still has a few rooms for Christmas, but New Year's is already sold out.
And, forget about trying to stay up at the Lake.
Most of the casinos have been booked since the middle of this month.
Caesar's has 440 rooms, and is sold out from the 17th to January 2nd.
Harrah's has 740 rooms, and is filled for that two week period.
Not too bad for the economy, when an average room stay in Lake Tahoe is a hundred dollars or more.
In Reno, the Eldorado hotel and casino is three quarters full for this weekend, and has no vacancies for the New Year's eve.
Harrah's is reporting a sell-out for Christmas Day, hosting an Asian concert.
They expect 1200 people.
And, the Reno Hilton is anticipating selling out all this week and next.
Casino managers say this shows how much the economy has rebounded after 9-11.
We did find a few places that charge around 85-dollars a night...but those rates are for Friday and going fast.
The R-S-C-V-A says more direct flights to Reno this year and its ski packages should make for a great holiday season for the local economy.
And, each casino has a holiday party or concert planned...so there should be plenty to do.
