The City of Reno is opening the Rink on the River this Wednesday, November 21st with a Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration.
Festivities will be held at City Plaza, located at the corner of First and Virginia Streets in Downtown Reno.
Starting at 4:50 p.m. the Nevada Youth Opera Chorus will perform seasonal favorites near the holiday tree.
At 5:15 p.m. city officials will lead the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration.
This year’s tree is a 50-foot Giant Sequoia generously donated by Dr. & Mrs. Michael Lyons of Reno.
Following the lighting of the holiday tree, the Rink of the River will open for the season, staying open until 9 p.m.
Residents can get a free skate rental by donating new mittens, hats, gloves, scarves or socks.
City officials will be present to celebrate the return of the Rink on the River.
Admission is $5 for adults, 13 & older, and $3 for youth or seniors. Skate rental is $2.
Regular operating hours for the Rink begin on Thursday, November 22nd and are expected to run through Sunday, February 24th.
