New York police are searching for two suspects believed to have been burglarizing high-rent Manhattan apartments during open house showings.
Police and a broker say the thieves posed as potential buyers and made off with a diamond ring, clothing and other valuables.
The suspects, who police say appear to be women, were captured on security cameras at some of the four buildings targeted. The apartments were on the Upper East Side and Upper West Side, two of the city's most desirable neighborhoods.
Police say the two worked in tandem, one distracting the broker while the other snatched jewelry and other items.
According to a blog maintained by a real estate agency, an agent noticed one suspect apparently taking something and confronted her. At that point, it says, both thieves dropped most of what they had taken and fled.
